Editing Purple Pitcher Plant

The Purple Pitcher Plant (''Sarracenia purpurea'') is a carnivorous plant native to bogs of Connecticut.  Because this organism thrives only in sunny wetland habitats with low-nutrient soil (generally only in peat bogs), they are not especially common in Connecticut.  However, the Purple Pitcher Plant is not listed as a species of special concern in Connecticut.

== My Documented Encounters ==

With the help of an obscure blog post found online, I was able to locate and photo-document a fairly large and healthy population of Purple Pitcher Plants at [[Tolland Marsh Pond]] in Tolland, Connecticut.  Although I have documented the exact location of these plants, they are extremely difficult to access due to their location in a swamp.

== Other Confirmed Locations ==

Purple Pitcher Plants are known to live in Killingworth, Connecticut at the [[Pond Meadow Natural Area]], a protected parcel of wetlands.  I have been in contact with the administrator of the land and anticipate that I will visit the bog in mid-2012.
